New Stuff!!

Went a bit crazy today and bought all these products. I've tested them all except the lash blast length mascara by covergirl. The colossal volume express mascara by maybelline is fantastic, it could even be better then covergirl lash blast which is my favourite mascara. The colossal mascara gives heaps of volume and separates the lashes... bold lashes without clumping, perfect! I really like the two lip glosses, they were really cheap, something like $2 each. They both have great colour, shine and taste. Not a huge fan of the revlon photo ready foundation, I feel it doesn't give me enough coverage but if you have good skin I think it would be good as it sits well on the skin. I will continue to use it, maybe on days where I want my makeup to be less full on. I love the nail polish, it's sally hansen HD in hi-res. The colour is a really nice deep pink and is ver shiny. It also came with the double duty polish, which is a strengthening base and top coat. No idea about how long this nail polish will last and if it chips, I've only had it on for an hour, I'll give an update on it soon.

PURPLE!!!

What I used:
• Revlon Photo Ready Foundation
• Maybelline Coverstick
• Maybelline Mineral Power Finishing Veil, Translucent Loose Powder
• Revlon Eyeglide Shimmer Shadow in Pearl 01
• Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer Palette
• Revlon Diamond Lust shadow in Lavender Unleashed 615
• NP set Eyeliner Paris
• NP Neo Noir Liquid Liner in black
• Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in onyx
• Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara in Glam Black
• NARS Orgasm Blush
• Chi Chi Real Minerals Bronzer
• MAC Lipstick in Satin Myth A39
• TBN Lip Gloss in Nude Shine 935

How to get this look:
1. Apply your foundation. I used my fingers as I was trying to go for a dewier look.
2. Apply coverstick to your eye area and also translucent powder.
3. Apply some of the eyeglide shimmer shadow to your lids using your finger. If you don't have this product, it is a shimmery, shiny very light pink creme shadow, so use anything that is equivalent.
4. Use a light purple shadow over the entire lid. I used the second row, eighth column in the coastal scents.
5. Then take a medium purple into the crease. I used the fifth row, seventh column in the coastal scents.
6. Use a dark purple in the outer corner of the lid. I used the fifth row, eighth column in the coastal scents.
7. Over the dark purple use a tiny amount of black shadow to intensify look. I used black from coastal scents.
8. Dab a small amount of the diamond lust shadow into the inner corner of the eye and use as a brow highlight. The diamond lust shadow is a very light shimmery silvery purple.
9. Blend shadows using a blending brush.
10. Use pencil eyeliner on top lash line and go over with liquid liner, this gives a smoother finish. Create wings with the liquid if you like that look.
11. On the bottom lash line use a crayon liner.
12. Apply Mascara.
13. Apply blush, I used the NARS as a cheek highlighter and the bronzer for the bottom half of the cheek and then blended them together.
14. Apply lipstick and gloss.

Random Favourite Things for June

Just a few things that i bought/discovered this month.
  • NARS orgasm blush- I've heard people mention this before as a really good blush, it's one of NARS most popular products. It's a very nice shade and I've heard it lasts a long time. It's quite expensive, around $60 but well worth it.
  • Napoleon Perdis Neo Noir Liquid Liner Black- It's kind of like a pen, so it's very easy to apply, although it is not very liquidy. A good product for getting a precise line. Very affordable at around $25
  • Joanne mercer Darcie boots in black. Very cute ankle boots. They are $229.95 but are on sale at the moment so I paid around $110.
  • www.djxtreme.co.uk really good website for r&b and hip hop mash ups and remixes

That's about all for this month. I'm going to upload a new make up look hopefully within the next few days.

Bright Mermaid Looks

Look Number 1
Light blue on inner half of lid, light purple on outer half of lid, dark purple in crease and light pink in the middle.

Look Number 2
Light blue on inner half of lid, slightly darker blue on outer half of lid, dark purple in crease.

Coastal Scents 88 Palettes

My new favourite things! The other week I purchased these two palettes off eBay. The one on the left is the shimmer and the one on the right is the warm. They are both from coastal scents and you can order them online from coastal scents or eBay (much cheaper). These are surprisingly cheap, you can get them for around $30 each. I love these eye shadows, I've only had them for two days and I've already done over six looks. I can't really tell you what their quality is like, I'll need to test them out for a bit longer but so far so good. Each has 88 colours so there is an endless amount of looks that can be created.

Silver-Black Look

What I used:
  • Coastal Scents 88 warm colour palette (just got it... I love it!)
  • Napoleon Perdis black Eyeliner
  • Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Liner in black
  • Boujours Volume Clubbing Waterproof Mascara
  • Maybelline unstoppable eyeliner in onyx
How to get this look:
  1. Start by applying an eyeshadow primer or cream concealer to the eye area
  2. Use a dark shimmer grey (I used second column, sixth row from CS) and apply all over the lid and into the crease
  3. Use a matte black (I used the black from CS) and apply to the outer part of the lid to almost half way in and take into the crease
  4. Use a shimmer black (I used last in first column from CS) and apply it into the crease over matte black and onto the edge of the lid
  5. Use a blending brush to blend out any harsh lines
  6. Apply a highlighting colour to the brow bone (I used the pearl colour from CS but its really up to you, white and light grey would also work)
  7. Apply the matte black to the lower lash line using a small thin flat brush
  8. Take a pencil eyeliner and apply to the upper lash line
  9. Go over this with liquid eyeliner and use the liquid to create a wing
  10. Take the same brush used for lower lash line and blend the eyeliner a little
  11. Apply crayon eyeliner (or your preference) to bottom lash line
  12. Apply Mascara
Notes:
When I decided to do this look I didn't think I would like it as I am not a huge fan of black eyeshadow but I'm actually really pleased at how well it turned out.

I'd probably put false lashes on as well as my natural lashes aren't intense enough to pull this look off.
Don't go too extreme with the rest of your face, keep it really simple!
I'd only do this eye makeup if I was going to a club or a party, it's way to extreme for anywhere else.

Other Makeup Essentials (which my preference for what brand constantly changes)

Liquid Eyeliner
At the moment I'm using maybelline line stiletto in black. I'm not really sure I like it that much, it's really hard to get a precise line. Although it is a very good colour and gives a really intense look, great for going out. When it runs out I will definitely try a different one with the same colour intensity but that goes on more smoothly. Maybe its me that can't apply it properly but I think its the applicator, I'm not really sure what's wrong with it, it just makes it very difficult to get a smooth line. The formula is great but.

Gel Eyeliner
Most gel eyeliners are quite similar, i don't think any brand is better than the other. Gel liner is great for a softer less intense look then liquid. I mostly use liquid because I love the intense look but sometimes if i want to tone it down or if I can't be bothered (as i find liquid more difficult to apply) I use gel. Currently I'm using napoleon perdis gel liner in equinox (which is black). I recommend this product, it stays on really well and I'd probably buy it again when it runs out.

Crayon Eyeliner
I use maybelline unstoppable in onyx, I probably should of mentioned this in my favourites as I've been using this for a long time and even when I change to a similiar product I always end up going back to using this one. It's pretty much the only product that I could say I've been using for years. I guess it's not one of my favourites because I don't love it, it's just an everyday necessity for me. I'm really happy with it, it stays on well and is a good colour. I only use on my lower lash line, i don't think it would be precise enough to use on the top.

Foundation
Duh!! I think liquid foundation is the best, it blends easily with your skin. I find with say a mousse if you don't work it in properly it can look blotchy. Liquid foundation is the safest option. I usually wear one that is long lasting. At the moment I'm using the new mabelline super stay foundation but I would also recommend the revlon colour stay. Both give a full coverage that lasts for ages, great for a long night out. For a lighter coverage I use the mabelline mineral liquid foundation. I don't really use it that often because I have really bad skin sometimes so I need the full coverage.

My Favourite Makeup Products

Covergirl Lash Blast
This is my all time favourite product. It gives you heaps of volume without any clumping. I highly recommend it. The waterproof version is also quite good but I try to avoid using waterproof as it can damage your lashes. This product is really affordable and can be found almost anywhere makeup is sold, I think you can even buy it at supermarkets.

MAC Myth Lipstick
I think all mac lipsticks are great, they stay on well and give good coverage. Myth is a nude colour which I am absolutely in love with, nude lipstick really suits me so don't buy it unless you can pull it off, nude can be quite scary on some people, but I still recommend mac, just choose the right shade for you. Also with nude lipstick, never ever use it by itself, always apply a gloss over the top. No one can pull off nude lipstick by itself... scary!!!!

TBN Nude Ultra Shine Lip Gloss
I have absolutely no idea where this product came from, my mum bought it for me. It goes great with my mac myth lipstick. Its very shiny and taste kind of nice. I'm pretty sure it was a very cheap product.

Chi Chi Real Minerals Bronzer
This is the best bronzer. I'm not really sure if you can even buy it, mine came with a chi chi gift pack that was selling at christmas time. The colour of this is great, its got heaps of tones of brown, gold and pink and has just the right amount of shimmer. I don't really use bronzer all over my face, my skin is too light for it so I use it as a blush.

Maybelline Coverstick
I've had this product for a very long time but I only just started using it. Now I'm addicted to it. It's great for using on your eyelids before applying eyeshadow. It gives your eyelids an even skin tone and I think it prevents creasing. It's also a great product for covering blemishes.
